| FINESSING THE KING |
| WHAT IS A
FINESSE??? A Finesse is an attempt to win tricks with a lower card than one held by the opponents. |
| FINESSING THE KING EXAMPLES 1 and 2. Lead a small card from the South hand up to the Queen. If the King does not appear play the Queen. If the Queen wins in EXAMPLE
2, return to the South hand and repeat the Finesse. That
is,
play a card from South toward the Jack. EXAMPLE 3. Lead the Queen, Jack or 10. If the King does not appear play a small card. If the trick wins, repeat the Finesse by playing an honor from South and letting it ride. EXAMPLE 4. Lead the Jack or 10. If the King does not appear play a small card from the North hand. If the trick wins, repeat the Finesse by playing a small card towards the Queen. In the above examples if the King its before the Ace (West) you will make all the tricks. But if the King sits after the Ace (East), the King will win a trick. Either case happens 50% of the time. . . . . for most people. |
