Playing in a suit contract involves that extra dimension called TRUMP. Trump can be declarer’s friend or enemy. In the opponent’s hands they are a dangerous foe; in the dummy they can be the declarer’s salvation. One way to get rid of a loser is to trump the loser in Dummy.        Trumping in the Declarer’s hand (hand with the long suit) in most cases will not get rid of a loser or produce a trick. The only time you should consider trumping in your hand is:        w  to get the lead in the closed hand        w  to set up Dummy's long suit        w  to create winners in Dummy (a Dummy Reversal) How do you get rid of the losers in the following hands? Hearts are trump; Declarer on lead.
